Tension is rising between long-time rivals Iraq and Iran over the reported seizure of an Iraqi oil well. Baghdad has condemned the incursion by Iranian troops, but says it is committed to resolving the issue through diplomatic channels. The Iraqis say eleven Iranian soldiers are dug-in at a disused oil well within the operational al-Fakkah field in Maysan province near the border with Iran. It’s claimed, they raised the Iranian flag after ordering workers to leave. Iraq’s national security council has held an emergency meeting to discuss the incident which is bound to raise concerns among potential investors.
