Deputy PM Bozidar Djelic yesterday attended a session of a council set up to improve the position of the Roma population in Serbia. The realization of inclusion projects for the members for this ethnic minority will be financed with EUR 8mn from the Instrument for Pre-Accession Assistance (IPA) funds, he said. At the council session, chaired by the deputy prime minister, it was concluded that Serbia made significant progress in 2009, the year of its presidency of the Decade of Roma Inclusion, by adopting the Strategy for improving the position of Roma and the action plan for its implementation. The next session will be held at the start of April, just ahead of the European Roma Summit in Cordoba, Spain, where the Serbian delegation will propose the adoption of a Europe-wide strategy for Roma inclusion. The council meets in Belgrade (Beta)
