New swine flu cases reported in Serbia

Two high school students in Belgrade have been placed in the infective clinic and are believed to have been infected with the swine flu virus.

Two high school students in Belgrade have been placed in the infective clinic and are believed to have been infected with the swine flu virus. Officials of the government and working group monitoring the epidemic will discuss new measures that need to be taken against the flu. New swine flu cases reported in Serbia Emergency medical service spokesperson Nada Macura said that the young patients are in between the ages of 15 and 17, have high temperatures which did not react to medication and therapy. The first student was taken to the hospital at about 21:30 CET last night from the military school, and the second was taken in about two hours later. Both are being tested, while their roommates are under medical observation as well. Prime Minister Mirko Cvetkovic will meet with Health Minister Tomica Milosavljevic and Education Minister Zarko Obradovic and members of the working group for following the swine flu, to discussion new measures against the virus. There were new cases of the swine flu reported on Sunday in the Serbian cities of Novi Sad, Cacak and Pirot. A total of 162 cases of swine flu (H1N1) were confirmed in Serbia through October 31. the Institute of Public Health of Serbia Dr. Milan Jovanovic Batut stated Monday. According to the data of the Torlak Institute of Immunology and Virology in Belgrade, in the period from October 26 until October 31, 28 new cases were registered, the statement adds. The patients come from Belgrade, Cacak, Kraljevo, Kragujevac, Nis. Paracin, Pirot, Uzice, Pancevo and Novi Sad. The majority are elementary and high school students.
