Albanian arrested for killing trial witness
One man was killed, while the other was treated for gunshot wounds to his legs. Police said there had been two assailants, and were still searching for a second suspect. The two men were witnesses in the trial of a former Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA) commander, Selim Krasniqi, and two associates accused of detaining and beating fellow ethnic Albanians who allegedly collaborated with Serb authorities during Kosovo's 1998-99 war.
Krasniqi and the two others were convicted and sentenced to seven years in prison.
Most of the prosecution witnesses testified anonymously, out of fear of retribution. The case was handled by UN-appointed international judges and prosecutors.
