Bosnian Chief Prosecutor Milorad Barasin stated that the investigation into the Dobrovoljacka St. case is still ongoing in that country. This in spite of the ruling of the City of Westminster Magistrates' Court in London this week, which decided against extraditing Ejup Ganic to Serbia. Bosnia to continue Ganic investigation The former Muslim member of Bosnia's wartime presidency is now back in Sarajevo, and is wanted in Serbia for war crimes committed against a convoy of retreating Yugoslav People's Army (JNA) soldiers in May 1992, in a case informally known as the Dobrovoljacka Street massacre. Now Barasin stated for the Sarajevo-based daily Dnevni Avaz that the British ruling in the extradition case "refers only to Serbia's request". When asked whether this means that the investigation against Ganic will be continued in Bosnia-Herzegovina, Barasin responded by saying, "of course it does". Bosnian Prosecutor's Office Spokesperson Boris Grubesic stated for the daily that Ganic is under investigation in the Dobrovoljacka Street case opened by the Bosnia-Herzegovina Prosecutor's Office. "As far as we are concerned, Ganic is under investigation in the active case of the Dobrovoljacka Street processed by the Bosnia-Herzegovina prosecution, and that is his status. It is a good thing that the Bosnian justice system will have the final word and that the Bosnian bodies will decide on all aspects of the case," said Grubesic.
