"Kosovo not recognized internationally, perhaps won't be"

"Kosovo is not recognized internationally and perhaps won't be. I know that despite this, the issue is on the agenda of the forthcoming session of the General Conference of UNESCO, and the result is difficult to predict, because, for now, the difference is three-four votes," Pushkov told reporters. He spoke ahead of attending the promotion of his book "Post Scriptum - Can Putin Help Russia" that has been published in Serbian.

Pushkov said that Russia would insist on the stance that Kosovo must not be a member of international organizations, and does not believe it will join the Council of Europe and UNESCO, although a number of Western countries and their allies have recognized the independence of the Serbian province.

The Executive Board of UNESCO earlier this month tabled the Albanian initiative to allow Pristina to join, when 27 countries voted in favor of recommending this to the General Conference, 14 were against, and as many abstained.
