Stefanovic told a press conference that up to 2,000 migrants cross the border into Serbia every day, but that for the majority it is only a transit country.

The migrants in Serbia are being treated well and they are satisfied with the behavior of Serbian authorities. No incident was reported between the local population and the migrants, said Stefanovic.

However, the minister warned that the costs for Serbia are very high, and added that the officials will discuss this matter with the international community and ask it to continue providing support so that the funding for temporary accommodation, food and medical services for the migrants could continue.

In order to resolve this issue, a broad-based action plan should be developed at a European level, Stefanovic underlined.
