Opposition SNS leader Tomislav Nikolic says his party could form a pre-election coalition with anyone except the Democrats (DS) and the Serb Radicals (SRS). The Serb Progressive Party (SNS) is an offshoot of the Radicals, and along with the Democrats is considered one of the country's most popular parties - though yet to take part in parliamentary elections. SNS leader rules out cooperation with DS and SRS "There can be no government with the DS," he told the Belgrade-based Press tabloid, explaining that it was "impossible after all the insults". "If the SNS fails to get enough votes to form a government with its coalition partners, New Serbia, the Strength of Serbia Movement and the Socialist Movement, it will offer minorities seats on the government, and the first offer will go to the Alliance of Vojvodina Hungarians," he noted. Nikolic said he and opposition Democratic Party of Serbia (DSS) leader Vojislav Kostunica had agreed the two parties should not attack each other and that they would run in the election separately. He added they would see afterwards if a compromise could be reached to form a joint government. When asked if the Party of United Pensioners of Serbia (PUPS) was seen as a potential partner to the SNS, Nikolic stated PUPS leader Jovan Krkobabic should consider whether the coalition with the Socialist Party of Serbia (SPS) had been successful. When it comes to the SPS, Nikolic commented that "if Dacic (the leader of the SPS, which is in coalition with the DS) goes on like this, the people will ask themselves why they should vote for the SPS if it is a vote for the DS? Why not vote for the DS directly?" "If Dacic says he would have called the election three months ago and divided Kosovo between Serbia and Albania if it had been up to him and if that is his party's program, but it is not being realized, instead only the DS progam is followed, then why should the people vote for the SPS," Nikolic stated, adding that Dacic "has to show during the campaign where he stands".
