Serbian officials praised outgoing Indian Ambassador to Serbia Ajay Swarup in Belgrade on Wednesday evening, reports said. The ambassador was lauded for his long-term efforts at promoting the friendly relations between the two countries. Praise for outgoing Indian ambassador Speaking at a reception held ahead of Swarup's return to his homeland, Foreign Minister Vuk Jeremic expressed his gratitude and that of the ministry he heads "for the plethora of activities by the head of the Indian diplomatic mission in the course of his almost three-year term of office in Serbia". Ambassador Swarup has been in Belgrade since October 2006, and during that time he was very active in reviving and expanding economic ties between India and some regions of Serbia, such as Sumadija and Srem, in attracting investments from his homeland. The top Indian diplomatic envoy to Belgrade also showed great interest in the transfer of Serbia's experience in agriculture, road building and medicine to his country, Tanjug news agency said.
