Temporary council takes over in Zemun

The temporary council of the Belgrade municipality of Zemun, headed by Zdravko Stankovic, DS, this morning entered the local assembly. Sarovic said that "half an hour after midnight, skinheads and beaters stormed the Zemun municipal president's cabinet", and that "a large number of policemen in riot gear" is at the scene. He also said that SRS, and the DSS-NS coalition will send PM Mirko Cvetkovic their demand to annul the decision to dissolve the Zemun assembly. The decision was made on March 5 by the Belgrade Assembly. Local elections for Zemun will be called by May 10 at the latest, while the temporary council will administer the municipality in the meantime.
