Electoral Commission officials resign

Republic Election Commission (RIK) Chairman Sonja Brkic has bowed to public pressure and tendered her resignation to parliament. Justice Minister Snezana Malovic and RIK deputy secretary Tamara Stojcevic also resigned from the commission earlier, together with four other RIK officials and seven deputy members. Electoral Commission officials resign Malovic has reportedly returned the money that she was paid while working in RIK. The scandal regarding the multi-million payments given to commission members broke out in public when it came to light that commission members had met up to five or six times a day, receiving a fee for each individual meeting. The 36 RIK officials, coming from all the parliamentary parties, split a total of EUR 850,000 in earnings.
