A former negotiator in the Kosovo status talks says the Kosovo Albanian government is entitled to oppose any proposal “not in line with Kosovo’s constitution”. “The government has the legitimate right to oppose anything that is not in line with Kosovo’s constitution, or that creates some form of administrative division inside Kosovo,” Martti Ahtisaari’s former deputy Albert Rohan told the Albanian language daily Express. Albanians The Austrian diplomat also stressed the importance of EULEX’s deployment in the whole territory of Kosovo, “because that is another way to implement the Ahtisaari plan and avoid Kosovo’s partition.” Rohan also said that “no solution can be imposed on Kosovo”, and added that in negotiations with the EU “or other factors”, Pristina must concentrate on finding ways that provide for EULEX to deploy in “all of Kosovo”.
