Macedonia’s defense minister pledged his country’s continued participation in the U.S.-led mission in Iraq.

Macedonia continues participation in Iraq mission

Macedonia has been participating in the “Freedom for Iraq” since 2003, with one platoon of the ARM’s special forces.

Elenovski pointed out that the American support was of greatest significance to Macedonia, especially ahead of the 2008 NATO Summit in Bucharest, from which Macedonia expects to receive an invitation for membership.

Extending gratitude for the Macedonia’s contribution to the stability and peace in Iraq, Butler commended the highly professional conduct of the ARM troops serving there.

Butler also confirmed the support his country gave to Macedonia’s bid to join NATO.
