BELGRADE B92 has learned that previous media reports about the alleged attack in prison against former cabinet minister Sasa Dragin were false. Our sources told us that Dragin himself said that he was not facing any problems while detained, and that he did not have any objections to the conditions there. Prison denies that former minister was assaulted Some media reported that Dragin was attacked by several prisoners as he was taking a walk in the yard of the Special Court detention unit in Belgrade, and that his arm had been broken. According to these reports, other inmates "attacked Dragin out of the blue, probably because of what he did while he was minister". Dragin is a Democratic Party (DS) official who served as minister of agriculture. He was arrested last month on charges of abuse of office and placed in detention. His party on Friday said that they could not confirm whether the attack took place, and asked the prison authorities to "submit a report" to the party on whether or not the allegations were true.
