Dragan Markovic aka Palma exerted pressure on his ruling coalition partners because of the court procedure against Svetlana Ceca Raznatovic. This is according to a report today in the Belgrade-based Blic newspaper. Ruling majority partners "pressured" Markovic heads United Serbia (JS) party, and is part of the ruling majority in Serbia's parliament, in a pre-election coalition with the Socialists (SPS) and the Pensioners (PUPS). He was formerly allied with the party set up by late Zeljko Raznatovic aka Arkan. His widow, folk singer Svetlana Raznatovic, is being investigated on suspicion that she stole money from football transfers conducted by FK Obilic. Now Markovic, writes the daily, threatened and said that he "would not vote for certain bills" in parliament. "He’s furious because the indictment was drafted against Ceca. Before, he'd threaten and insult when the court procedure against Ceca was mentioned. It’s a known fact that he was the vice president of the party of Zeljko Raznatovic Arkan and that he is a friend of his widow,“ said a Blic source familiar with the situation in parliament. Markovic himself did not wish to comment on these claims. “Let the court do its job, you journalists shouldn’t be more Catholic than the Pope,“ said Markovic resignedly, and immediately hung up the phone, writes the newspaper.
