The Hague prosecution has closed its case against a former Serbian police general by seeking a guilty verdict and a 35 years to life in prison sentence. Vlastimir Djordjevic's defense counsel Dragoljub Djordjevic sought to convince the Hague Tribunal judges that his client should be acquitted of charges of war crimes committed against ethnic Albanians in Kosovo in 1999, since he said the prosecution had failed to prove his guilt during the trial. Prosecution wants 35-to-life for ex-general Prosecutor Chester Stamp asked the trial chamber to find the accused guilty on all counts of the indictment – forcible relocation, deportation and murder. The trial began in January 2009. Last year the Hague Tribunal sentenced Nikola Sainovic, Nebojsa Pavkovic and Sreten Lukic to 22 years in prison, and Dragoljub Ojdanic and Vladimir Lazarevic to 15 years for the crimes in Kosovo, but the judgments are still not legally effective.
