The War Crimes Prosecution has announced the arrest of Goran Savic on suspicion of war crimes in Zvornik in 1992. According to a statement, the Serbian police arrested Savic from Kraljevo on the basis of a demand for an investigation by the prosecution, which has evidence that he beat, tortured and robbed Muslim civilians, killing one, in the Ekonomija and Ciglana districts in May 1992. Djilerdzic was released from custody on December 11, although the Belgrade District Court War Crimes Chamber has put him under house arrest pending further Court rulings, the statement adds. The prosecution will recommend that, once charges have been brought against the two suspects, they be in tied with indictments against six other individuals in the Zvornik case that got under way in autumn 2005.

New arrest in Zvornik war crimes case

Proceedings linked to the same crimes have been launched against Saša Đilerdžić, also from Kraljevo, who was arrested in July this year.

Đilerdžić was released from custody on December 11, although the Belgrade District Court War Crimes Chamber has put him under house arrest pending further Court rulings, the statement adds.

The prosecution will recommend that, once charges have been brought against the two suspects, they be in tied with indictments against six other individuals in the Zvornik case that got under way in autumn 2005.
