Reports say the investigation against the former Bosnian Muslim army commander, Atif Dudakovic, will end shortly. Banja Luka daily Nezavisne Novine quoted sources close to the case when they reported that prosecutors made headway as some persons close to the former army chief agreed to testify about the war crimes allegedly committed by men under Dudakovic's control. Witnesses agree to testify against Dudakovic The Bosnian prosecution opened the investigation against Dudakovic, a retired general, when the footage of executions of Serb prisoners of war appeared in the media. The video, dated back to the fall 1995, also showed Dudakovic ordering his men to burn Serb houses in the Bosanski Petrovac area. Sources close to the investigation say that the prosecutors have recently interviewed several witnesses from the Unsko-Sanski canton in Bosnia, in order to fill in the missing pieces of information concerning Dudakovic's responsibility for the crimes. The sources also add that in the wake of the arrest of Suljo Karajic, a.k.a. Hodza, himself a suspect in several murders during the inter-Muslim conflict in Velika Kladusa, the Dudakovic investigation may be expanded to several unit commanders from his 5th Corps. "Some of the people who were very close to him during the war have now agreed to reveal the truth that is very ugly and inconvenient for him," the daily quoted its sources, which concluded all this may lead to the issuing of an indictment against Dudakovic "very soon".
