Police in Kosovo reportedly have new evidence against Mazllum Bytyqi, the suspected killer of 14 Serb farmers in 1999. The villagers were harvesting their crop in August of that year, in Staro Gacko, in the Kosovo municipality of Lipljan, when they were murdered. New evidence in murder of 14 Kosovo Serbs Albanian language media in Pristina said Wednesday that police now have fresh evidence against Bytyqi, arrested by UNMIK special police in the village of Veliki Alas yesterday, eight years after the crime. Bytyqi is a former Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA) member. Spokesman for the Kosovo Police Service (KPS) Veton Elshani said that the police now have new proof which links the suspect to the crime, but he did not give any details. Media reports add that Bytyqi was arrested back in 2002 under the same suspicion, but was released after six months due to a lack of evidence, with no indictment issued against him. New evidence in murder of 14 Kosovo Serbs

Albanian language media in Priština said Wednesday that police now have fresh evidence against Bytyqi, arrested by UNMIK special police in the village of Veliki Alaš yesterday, eight years after the crime.

Bytyqi is a former Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA) member.

Spokesman for the Kosovo Police Service (KPS) Veton Elshani said that the police now have new proof which links the suspect to the crime, but he did not give any details.

Media reports add that Bytyqi was arrested back in 2002 under the same suspicion, but was released after six months due to a lack of evidence, with no indictment issued against him.
