The building of the two 20-story residential towers, taking up an area of 68,000 square meters, will begin this summer, Tanjug said.

The website for Belgrade Waterfront does not contain any information about the price of the apartments, and informs those who "register their interest" that they will be informed about the project's development in a timely manner.

The towers have recently been presented at the leading international real estate show (MIPIM) in Cannes, and a scale model of the two residential buildings will be on display at the BW Gallery.

Earlier, Belgrade Mayor Sinisa Mali announced that the Belgrade Waterfront project contract with the Abu Dhabi-based company Eagle Hills "will be signed in a few weeks and made available to the public."

"It is a commercial contract worth about EUR 3.5 billion that will make it possible to arrange 100 hectares of space in downtown Belgrade and kick-start the national economy," the mayor told TV Pink on Saturday.

"The state is providing no guarantees and it is undertaking no risks regarding the sale of apartments and business offices that will be built," he said.

The Serbian parliament must adopt a special law to enable this first stage of the Belgrade Waterfront project to begin.

Serbian Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic said on Saturday that he will personally present the law to MPs, who will debate it in regular procedure.

Belgrade Waterfront has been criticized by some opposition parties, experts and NGOs as a technically flawed, non-transparent project that fails to meet some legal requirements.
