The airspace over Serbia, Montenegro and parts of Bosnia-Herzegovina was closed for air traffic at 16:00 CET on Saturday. According to the Serbia and Montenegro Air Traffic Services Agency, all flights in this region were canceled because of the spreading of the volcanic ash from Iceland. Serbian airspace closed for flights The ash is currently spreading towards the south of Serbia. The agency could not specify when flights might resume. Earlier in the day, it was announced that 22 departures from the Belgrade airport were canceled because of the volcanic ash engulfing large parts of Europe, however several airplanes bound for Montenegro, Greece and Macedonia took off this morning.
