Telecommunications Minister Jasna Matic says this year "will not be bad for privatization of Telekom" and that a realistic price could be achieved. Telekom Srbija is the country's state-owned telecommunications company. Minister: Good year to sell Telekom “The world crisis has passed for the most part, the telecommunications sector hasn’t suffered too much, it even had a certain growth, and further recovery is expected, so from that point of view, this year will not be bad for the sale of Telekom Srbija,” the minister said. She made the comments on Wednesday in Belgrade while taking part at a round table dedicated to electronic banking and electronic trading. Public Enterprise (JP) PTT Srbija (the postal service of Serbia) General Director Goran Ciric said at the same gathering that the government is expected to take over 80 percent of Telekom shares from PTT by the end of the year. PTT owns 80 percent of Telekom’s shares, but the government owns 100 percent of PTT, which makes it the majority owner of Telekom. The media reported earlier this month that Telekom would be sold to Deutsche Telekom in a tender expected in October, for the initial price of EUR 1bn for 30 percent plus one share.
