Serbia's budget deficit at the end of March was RSD 13.5bn (some EUR 142mn), the Ministry of Finance has announced. But according to the IMF-harmonized methodology, that includes all sources of financing, the figure was RSD 11.2bn. Budget deficit reaches RSD 13.5bn The state managed revenues worth RSD 140.8bn in this period, with RSD 69.4bn coming from collecting VAT money. Customs taxes yielded RSD 11.5bn in the first quarter. Obligatory social insurance organizations took the most from the budget, some RSD 60bn, along with expenses toward employees, which amounted to RSD 21.9bn, of the total budget expenditure figure of RSD 154.3bn. The 2009 Budget Law originally projected a deficit of RSD 49.9bn. The government is due to revise the budget and increase the deficit to RSD 90bn. Serbia's public debt at the end of February reached EUR 8.8bn.
