European Enlargement Commissioner Olli Rehn will host a conference with leading businessmen from Serbia and European experts in Brussels today. Among those attending the biggest meeting of its kind thus far, held only four days after the Serbian government’s decision to implement the Interim Trade Agreement with the EU unilaterally, will be several dozen Serbian company bosses, while one of the speakers will be Delta owner Miroslav Miskovic. Miskovic, looking ahead to today’s meeting, said that he would propose to the EU the sanctioning of those countries that were hampering investors, by slowing their own EU integration. A Round Table, chaired by Rehn, will be held on the theme of the influence of EU integration on the Serbian economy, the role of industry in promoting regional and European integration, and the challenges and opportunities for foreign investors in Serbia. Alongside Miskovic in the Serbian delegation will be the Bambi-Banat confection company’s CEO, Miroslav Miletic, Economic Institute Chairman Danko Djunic and Societe Generale CEO in Serbia Goran Pitic. The meeting will be addressed by, among others, European Chamber of Commerce Secretary-General Arnaldo Abruzzini, Chief Executive of the Federation of Belgian Enterprises Rudi Thomas and Director of the Center for European Policy Daniel Gros.
