The Serb Progressives (SNS) and the United Regions of Serbia (URS) have stated that a coalition between the Progressives and Democrats (DS) is not possible. After a meeting on Wednesday, they said that that SNS acting leader Aleksandar Vucic would be a coordinator for the drafting of a coalition agreement between the parties that should form the new government. SNS, URS: Govt. with Democrats unrealistic Vucic told reporters after the meeting in the SNS headquarters that the work on the coalition agreement and the forming of the government could not be quick and easy but that all parties had agreed that changes were necessary and that something needed to be done for the Serbian citizens. URS leader Mladjan Dinkic said that a good part of the coalition agreement had already been prepared and that it had eight segments – state policy, economic and social policy, rule of law, combat against corruption and organized crime, state administration reform, departization, decentralization and freedom of media. He added that a key part of the program was consolidation that needed to be done by September at the latest. The meeting started around 10:00 CET. The SNS delegation was led by the SNS acting leader and SNS officials Jorgovanka Tabakovic, Nebojsa Stefanovic, Radomir Nikolic and Zorana Mihajlovic are a part of it. The URS delegation, which comprised Verica Kalanovic, Suzana Grubjesic, Vladimir Ilic, Bosko Nicic and Snezana Stojanovic-Plavsic, was led by Dinkic. Vucic told Radio B92 earlier that they would discuss the results they wanted the government to achieve and added that it was not easy for the SNS or the SNS to find common ground. “Our parties have never had the best of relations and we have never cooperated and I am convinced that there will not be any kisses and hugs, just like with representatives of the Socialist Party of Serbia (SPS). We need to set certain goals and we have to be able to assess them in six months and in a year and to say if there is the point to do it or not because it is much more important than our parties’ ratings,” the SNS acting leader explained. “We will make sure to resolve revenues and expenses of the budget, I think that we will be able to reach an agreement on many issues if we agree on all this. Of course, the EU integration issue and the issue of combat against corruption and crime and preservation of Serbia’s territorial integrity are also important,” he stressed. SPS leader and PM-designate Ivica Dacic met with URS representatives on Tuesday and said that there was the parliamentary majority. According to him, parliament speaker and deputy speakers will be chosen next week and the government will be formed soon after.
