The Serbian government adopted on Wednesday the conclusion on the use of the name the Republic of North Macedonia.

Serbia now officially refers to neighbor as North Macedonia

"Given that the Republic of Serbia has good and developed relations with this neighboring country, and that the change of the name has been carried out in a legally valid manner, the Serbian government has taken notice of the change of the name and will use the name the Republic of North Macedonia or abbreviated name North Macedonia in future communication," a press release posted on the government's website said.

Previously, Serbia recognized the country under its previous constitutional name, "the Republic of Macedonia." At the same time, it had been recognized as "the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia (FRYOM)" by the UN and the EU, due to the decades-long name dispute with Greece.
