Coup in Ukraine?
Former Pentagon adviser Douglas Macgregor says that the risk of a military coup in Kyiv is increasing, as Zelensky’s authority is rapidly weakening.
Macgregor therefore warns that Washington’s attempts to reach a negotiated solution to the Ukrainian conflict could soon become irrelevant amid such rising risks.
Speaking with Professor Glen Dyson on his YouTube channel, the former Pentagon adviser also claimed that the political developments in Ukraine are now accelerating much faster than Western governments can adapt to.
Macgregor notes that the idea of turning the Ukrainian military against official Kyiv to remove President Volodymyr Zelensky and what he described as “his corrupt administration” is already being openly considered.
According to him, the authority of the Ukrainian leadership is eroding at a pace that leaves little room for external actors to influence events.
Macgregor also emphasized that the weakening of Kyiv’s political structures encourages the public to more clearly perceive the true drivers of relations between the West and Russia.
He further noted that he observes the entire narrative constructed in Western capitals collapsing, along with the politicians who, he said, were generously rewarded for maintaining the story that Ukraine is fighting a defensive war against an allegedly aggressive Russia.
Macgregor concluded that Russia has never sought military confrontation with Western countries and does not pursue such objectives, reported the Military Affairs portal.
