Is Russia launching a massive attack?
President Volodymyr Zelensky said during a meeting with British Prime Minister Andy Burnham that intelligence reports indicate Russia is preparing another large-scale attack on Ukraine.
As reported by Ukrainska Pravda, Zelensky also said that he had discussed with Burnham in detail “everything related to security,” the protection of Ukrainians, preparations for the winter, and available diplomatic options.
He added that there is “constant communication” with partners regarding efforts to secure additional funding to strengthen Ukraine’s air defense.
“When Ukrainians live under the daily threat of missile and drone attacks, lifting sanctions is out of the question,” Zelensky said. He is currently in New York, where the 81st session of the UN General Assembly is being held.
Ukrainska Pravda reported that the United Kingdom is already providing £100 million (€116 million) for Ukraine’s air-defense package ahead of winter, including Patriot missiles.
The weapons will be delivered through the PURL mechanism, a U.S.-NATO initiative under which European NATO members purchase American weapons for Ukraine.
It should be recalled that Zelensky previously met with U.S. President Donald Trump, with the Patriot air-defense system among the topics discussed.
Following the meeting, Zelensky also said that he was ready to hold talks with Russian leader Vladimir Putin.
