Dangerous threat from Russia: "If you do this - war will follow! We will pursue you until the end of time"
The Deputy Head of the Security Council of Russia, Dmitry Medvedev, warned that the introduction of a no-fly zone over Ukraine and the shooting down of Russian drones would mean war with NATO countries, reports Anadolia.
Medvedev, who was the president of Russia from 2008 to 2012, said on Telegram that he "considers the European initiative Eastern Guard amusing."
"But seriously, implementing the provocative idea of Kyiv and other fools to create a no-fly zone over Ukraine and the possibility of NATO countries shooting down our drones would mean only one thing - a war between NATO and Russia. Let's call things by their right names," he said.
NATO announces Operation Eastern Guard
On Saturday, NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte announced Operation Eastern Guard, which includes the deployment of equipment on the border with Belarus, Russia and Ukraine.
Medvedev described any use of frozen Russian assets, including in the form of a "loan to Ukraine", as "theft", warning that if this happens, Russia will pursue EU countries and officials "until the end of time" and "by all possible means".
"Without giving up claims against them due to statute of limitations or acquisition of ownership, and without statute of limitations on prosecutions for international crimes. In all possible international and national courts. And in some cases, even out of court," he said.
Criticism of the Austrian Minister of Foreign Affairs
Responding to Austrian Foreign Minister Beate Meinl-Reisinger's proposal that negotiations between Russia and Ukraine be conducted on the basis of its neutrality, Medvedev pointed out the inconsistency of her statements with those she made two months earlier, when she advocated joining NATO.
"It seems that the intoxication from the Austrian schnapps has passed, Beate has sobered up and is very scared," he said.
