It is dedicated to young filmmakers and the short film format, and was created with the aim of providing space for a new generation of creators whose voices are only now entering the contemporary film and cultural landscape.

The festival’s name refers to two key program criteria—films with a runtime not exceeding 30 minutes and authors under the age of 30.

However, given that film is a collaborative art form and each film is the result of the work of multiple authors and contributors, the festival does not require all team members to be under 30.

It is sufficient that the project is authorially led by a younger generation of creators, meaning that young film professionals and artists are represented among the key contributors.

During the first three days of the festival, the audience will have the opportunity to watch a total of 11 films from Serbia, Montenegro, Spain, Ukraine, and Poland within the competition program.

The competition section includes fiction, documentary, and animated films of various genres and approaches, offering insight into the diversity of contemporary short filmmaking and the interests of a new generation of authors.

The special value of the festival lies in the direct encounter between filmmakers and the audience. After the screenings, discussions with attending authors are planned, giving the public an opportunity to learn more about the making of the films, creative processes, and the themes they explore.

On the final, fourth evening of the festival, a showcase program dedicated to young director Danilo Stanimirović, a member of the jury for the first edition of the festival, will be presented. This will be followed by the announcement and awarding of the best film of the festival, as decided by the expert jury, which also includes Marija Vukić, screenwriter, director, and producer, and Vuk Savić, the festival director.

The U30 Film Festival is founded on the belief that the future of cinema belongs to new generations of filmmakers and that it is important to create a space where their ideas can be seen and recognized. Some of the authors whose films will be screened this year are at the beginning of their careers, but among them, future significant names of regional and world cinema may already be emerging.

The festival is organized by Afilmacija – Studio for the Production of Cinematographic Works, led by founder Vuk Savić, in cooperation with the Belgrade Youth Center.

Admission to all festival programs is free. Due to limited seating capacity, visitors are required to pick up free tickets, which will be available in the main lobby of the Belgrade Youth Center one hour before the start of the program each day.
