Vučić on the "Serbia Calls You 2026" camp: "Young people like you show that love for Serbia has no boundaries"
Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić hosted a reception for young athletes from Serbia, the region, and around the world who are participating in the “Serbia Calls You 2026” camp.
At the very beginning, Vučić said that he was proud that this event was being organized in Belgrade once again.
“Sport has a special connection with love, passion, and respect, as they share a common language. Today, you 435 young people are proving that love for Serbia and mutual respect know no borders,” he said.
“Distance may separate us geographically, but every breath we take, we take together. This proves that Serbia is your home, no matter where you are,” Vučić added, emphasizing that the doors of Serbia are always open to children from the diaspora.
“You are a source of pride for our culture, our youth, and our homeland. Serbia is your home, wherever you live. Dear children, cherish your name, surname, and heritage. The doors of this country are wide open to you — Serbia is always waiting for you and calling you,” Vučić told the camp participants.
“You are proof that our country has a beautiful and secure future. I hope you have enjoyed yourselves so far,” Vučić said, revealing that the young athletes would visit the Temple of Saint Sava and Belgrade Waterfront in the coming days.
After that, the camp participants presented Vučić with a gift they had prepared for him, and he then surprised them with gifts of his own.
Vučić expressed special gratitude to the coaches and educators, telling the children to preserve their names, surnames, and heritage.
“Be proud of that and know that the doors of this country are always wide open to you. Wherever life takes you, remember these days, because Serbia is always waiting for you and always calling you. The legendary basketball player Vladimir Cvetković, who recently passed away, once said: ‘There are moments when reality surpasses the greatest dreams.’ My dream is what I am living today before my own eyes. You are proof that our country has a beautiful and secure future,” Vučić said.
He added that he wants the children to learn as much as possible about their homeland and thanked their parents for raising them to love Serbia, respect their country, and return to it, regardless of where they live.
Vučić also said that Serbia would continue working to provide even more opportunities for games, smiles, and activities for young people in the future.
The “Serbia Calls You” sports and educational camp brings together children from the diaspora and includes organized sports and educational activities.
The camp has been held for the seventh consecutive year under the patronage of the President of the Republic of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić.
