Vučić to meet Babiš; Serbia–Czech Business Dialogue Roundtable scheduled for today

Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić will meet today with Czech Prime Minister Andrej Babiš, who is on an official two-day visit to Serbia (July 22–23), the Office for Media Relations of the President of the Republic announced today.

The two leaders will first hold a tête-à-tête meeting at 11:30 a.m., followed by a plenary session of the Serbian and Czech delegations led by President Vučić and the Czech prime minister.

Statements to the media are scheduled for 12:30 p.m., after which the delegations, together with Vučić and Babiš, will take part in the roundtable "Serbia–Czech Republic: Business Dialogue and New Opportunities for Economic Cooperation."

The forum, beginning at 1:00 p.m., will be held as part of Czech Prime Minister Babiš's official visit. In addition to Vučić and Babiš, opening remarks will be delivered by Marko Čadež, President of the Serbian Chamber of Commerce, and Jan Rafaj, President of the Confederation of Industry of the Czech Republic, the Serbian Chamber of Commerce (PKS) announced.

The roundtable will bring together representatives of Serbian and Czech companies from a range of industries, including metalworking, chemicals, construction, transport and logistics, information and communication technologies (ICT), the food industry, and banking. The aim is to strengthen economic cooperation, establish new business partnerships, and explore opportunities for joint investments and new projects.

Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić hosted a dinner last night in honor of Czech Prime Minister Andrej Babiš, who is on a two-day official visit to Serbia.

"I am pleased that, on the first evening of Andrej Babiš's visit to Serbia, we had the opportunity to exchange views in a pleasant conversation about the relations between our two countries and the possibilities for further strengthening them," Vučić wrote on his Instagram account on Wednesday evening.

He said that Serbia and the Czech Republic maintain traditionally strong ties based on mutual respect and understanding.

"I believe that tomorrow's official talks will further strengthen our cooperation and open up new opportunities for joint work in areas of mutual interest," Vučić said.

Vučić also posted a video of the working dinner with Babiš on Instagram.

"They say the best way to welcome a guest is with a host's table and what is served from the heart. Tonight, that meant roast turkey, but even more important than the menu were our open conversation, good spirits, and the shared desire to continue building even closer cooperation between Serbia and the Czech Republic," Vučić wrote.
