Swiss President in Serbia after 18 years
Swiss Ambassador to Serbia Anne Lugon-Moulin said on Monday that it is significant that the President of Switzerland is paying an official visit to Serbia after 18 years, noting that Parmelin is coming, among other things, to launch a new four-year cooperation strategy between the two countries, with projects in economic development, governance, and the green transition.
Lugon-Moulin said that Parmelin is visiting Serbia with a high-level economic delegation, which, she noted, demonstrates Switzerland’s interest in Serbia as the largest country in the Western Balkans in terms of regional stability and economic potential.
She recalled that Serbia and Switzerland have for years been in the same constituency group at the World Bank, the IMF, and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD).
She added that 600 Swiss companies operate in Serbia, and that the two countries have had a migration partnership agreement in place for 15 years.
Lugon-Moulin pointed out that bilateral economic agreements are in force, that the two countries also have a cultural cooperation program, and that there is potential to improve relations in certain economic sectors, including real estate, innovation, and scientific cooperation.
Visit program
The two presidents will attend the signing of the Agreement on the Swiss-Serbian Innovation Program, the Presidency of Serbia announced.
As stated, a formal welcome ceremony for the Swiss president with military honors will be held in front of the Palace of Serbia.
This will be followed by a tête-à-tête meeting between Vučić and the President of the Swiss Confederation, Guy Parmelin, and then a plenary meeting of the delegations of the Republic of Serbia and the Swiss Confederation, led by Presidents Vučić and Parmelin.
The signing of the Agreement on the Swiss-Serbian Innovation Program in the presence of Vučić and President Parmelin is also planned.
After all of this, the presidents of Serbia and Switzerland will address the media.
