Vučić at the Ambassadorial Conference: Kosovo is Serbia; this will be our policy everywhere in the world VIDEO
The Ambassadorial Conference is being held in Belgrade, organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Serbia. The event was opened by the President of the Republic of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić, who addressed the assembled ambassadors.
Aleksandar Vučić spoke first to the attendees.
At the very beginning, he posed the question of what needs to be done and what should be changed, emphasizing the need to create a policy and exert influence in the countries where they are stationed.
“We must strengthen our presence in Africa, Asia, and Latin America. There used to be intense competition for ambassadorial posts in wealthy European countries, but not in Africa and Asia,” he said.
“You are not here to please anyone,” he told the ambassadors.
He stated that Serbia will need to strengthen its embassies in the People’s Republic of China and Japan, as well as open new embassies in Vietnam and other countries. Vučić emphasized that Serbia cannot allow itself to have no representatives in countries with populations of one hundred million or more, and that it is especially important to have opportunities for cooperation with such nations.
“We have certain things in our safe; the question is when we will reveal them. We will fight for what is ours and defend our interests, but right now we are backed into a corner, and we are talking about a major European power,” Vučić said, referring to a new wave of recognitions of Kosovo.
Vučić said this involves a democratic country that has not acted according to its principles and noted that it also has claims on our territory.
He clearly stated that, through Saudi Arabia, a new wave of recognitions of Kosovo has begun, which took place in Syria and Sudan.
He added that Serbia must now start a wave of derecognitions, which will be a priority for every Serbian diplomat in the upcoming period.
“I only ask you that in implementing this policy, you always have the ability to add a personal touch, but it must always be Serbia’s policy. In line with this, I want to inform you—I know it is uncomfortable for many of you to speak about this, especially in countries that have recognized the independence of so-called Kosovo. I want you to know that no matter what they say or refer to, because neither Pristina, nor the U.S., nor the EU respect any agreement—even those imposed on us. Kosovo and Metohija is part of Serbia for us, it has been so, and it will remain so, in accordance with the UN Charter and Resolution 1244,” he emphasized.
“And I know it is not very pleasant for you to talk about this in London, Washington, and elsewhere, but it is the reality, and neither you nor they will change it. So I ask you not to debate it. There will be no discussions. In every place, this will be your policy. I say this because many regional and major global actors have started a new wave of recognizing the independence of ‘Kosovo,’” Vučić said.
“Your job is to preserve peace, to strengthen our capacities, and as our economy grows, we cannot be threatened. That is why it is important to resolve problems through dialogue; it will not be easy. It is time for a century of peace for our citizens. That is one goal: maintaining peace. The second goal is the fight to preserve the territorial integrity of Serbia,” he told the assembled ambassadors.
Foreign policy objectives
Vučić then presented Serbia’s goals to the diplomats in a detailed list:
-
Maintaining peace and stability – the first goal; it is our duty to have a century of peace, Vučić said.
-
Preserving Serbia’s territorial integrity and sovereignty – always and everywhere.
-
Accelerating economic activities – for this reason, we will need to strengthen the presence of our diplomats in Asian and Latin American countries, especially those ready to work to attract investors. The economy is of fundamental importance to us, particularly AI, nuclear energy, and similar sectors.
-
Do everything possible to stay on the European path – Vučić expressed shame over how negotiations regarding REM were conducted, how much Serbia was humiliated, and the pressures accepted at every step. He emphasized that no principles guided the other side except that they needed to have a majority. Proposals for rotation, such as 5:4 one year and reversed the next, were made, and Ana (Brnabić) would provide more details.
He also noted that Serbia purchased an exceptional property in Berlin for 33 million euros, in the city center at the best location. “No one will have an embassy in such a location like we do, except for these 3–4 countries,” he added.
To reiterate, the conference will bring together ambassadors, heads of Serbia’s missions to international organizations, and general consuls.
The event will feature speeches by Foreign Minister Marko Djurić and other officials, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement.
On the first day of the conference, a panel titled “Serbia’s Energy Security in Times of Geopolitical Turbulence” will be held, with Mining and Energy Minister Dubravka Djedović Handanović speaking. At the panel “Serbia on the Path to EU Membership – Challenges and Perspectives,” Minister for European Integration Nemanja Starović will address the attendees.
At the panel dedicated to the Expo 2027 exhibition, Minister of Internal and Foreign Trade Jagoda Lazarević will speak, and the closing address of the first day of the conference will be delivered by the Prime Minister of the Republic of Serbia, Prof. Dr. Djuro Macut.
