Vučić awarded work contracts to the best graduates: "Thank the state that invests so much money in healthcare"
The President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić, is attending the ceremonial reception for the awarding of work contracts to the top graduates of medical faculties and secondary medical schools in Serbia.
The reception began with the playing of the Serbian national anthem, "Bože pravde."
100 of the best young doctors from the universities of Belgrade, Novi Sad, Niš, Priština, and Kragujevac were present at the reception. In addition to them, young technicians and nurses were also present.
The contracts are being awarded as part of the employment program for the most successful graduates of medical faculties and secondary medical schools, which the Ministry of Health launched in 2018.
The gathering was addressed by the Dean of the Medical Faculty in Kragujevac, Prof. Dr. Vladimir Janjić, who stated that today’s event is the result of a systematic and planned process.
"Today’s ceremony goes beyond academic boundaries. It shows the political will to provide young people with a clear development perspective. Dear graduates, today you are not just receiving a job—you are becoming part of the state system," he said.
Following this, Aleksandar Vučić handed out work contracts to the top graduates. Among them were Sofija Glišić, Filip Bjeković, Kristina Savić, Ivana Koštrbić, Martin Bačević, Danica Milenković, Petar Gogić, Luka Matijenk, Ana Andjelković, and Damjan Ćirć, who are among the best medical graduates in Serbia.
Dr. Ana Andjelković then addressed the attendees:
"It is a great honor and responsibility to stand here today. We are beginning a new and extremely important chapter in our professional journey. I am not standing here as an individual, but as a representative of a generation that proves perseverance pays off," she said, adding: "Thank you to the President and the state for the opportunity you are giving us. The path to this day has not been easy: years of studying, sacrifices, night shifts, and personal struggles have shaped us as people and doctors. That is why we experience this moment with special gratitude. Thank you for this great honor."
Vučić then addressed the attendees:
"This is the sixth or seventh time we are participating in such events, and through this initiative, we have employed around 5,000 people," he said at the beginning, adding that these young people should not be thanking him or the Minister of Health, but the state.
"The state has decided to invest enormous amounts in healthcare—these are figures you do not learn about at universities and schools. This is not two or three billion, but nearly five billion, almost 20 percent of our budget," he explained.
