Štimac again taken into custody; new 48-hour detention order issued
According to unofficial information, the police, acting on the order of the Higher Public Prosecutor’s Office in Belgrade, have once again issued a decision to detain protester Vladimir Štimac for up to 48 hours.
Immediately after news broke that he had been released from detention, he sought medical assistance.
“He felt unwell,” an Informer source said.
According to unofficial information, after visiting the Emergency Center—where he was taken upon requesting a medical examination from the police—Štimac is now in police custody.
According to reports, Štimac remains in a 48-hour detention period. Previously, Judge Ksenija Marić of the Belgrade Higher Court accepted his lawyer’s appeal against the Belgrade Higher Public Prosecutor’s Office decision that had placed him in 48-hour detention and annulled that decision.
The media report that, following the prosecutor’s order, the police issued a new detention decision for Štimac.
Earlier, media outlets had reported that Judge Ksenija Marić had released Vladimir Štimac. She annulled his police detention before his questioning by the prosecutor and released him.
Recall that Štimac was arrested last night for allegedly inciting violence throughout the day in front of the Serbian Parliament, reportedly calling on people to attack the so-called Ćacilend and police officers securing the event, with the aim of violently overthrowing legitimate government representatives.
