Aside from abstract values, how about treaties? Europe and the international community should honor the Helsinki Final Act, which is supposed to guarantee a nation's sovereignty, territorial integrity, invoilability of frontiers and non-intervention in internal affairs. Looks like that treaty is just another useless piece of paper, along with the U.N. and NATO Charters, both of which were violated in the illegal 1999 war against Serbia.

Del Ponte keeps her style of excaggeration the problems and unduely maximizing her power.

Actually, we should apply her skills to Turkey instead of to the Balkans. Having her deal with the Armenian genocide or the Turkish invasion of Cyprus should cause some real fireworks and be very interesting to watch.

I would hope that Serbia makes a decision regarding handing over Mladic once the Kosovo status has been finalized not prior. Remember in Democracy, its innocent until proven guilty not the other way around.... After all whats the EU about anyway? we Slavs of the Balkans cant live together, how would u expect us to live together with our western European neighbors in a federation controlled and administered from Brussels, why are these Balkan states jumping the bandwagon?? Yugoslavia was a great idea in theory, though it failed thats not logical.... the first sign of insanity is repetition.

"Europe accepted the rule of law as its central value" European values” while truth and justice Ha! Ha! Europe accepted the rule of law except for the 3 months of terror bombing in 99 when it went against its own laws. And to talk of relative truths what about the truth regarding Kosovo that Serbs have to live in protected ghettos in their own land and EU and UN reps saying things are getting better(for Albanians maybe) .Hows that for relative truth. The hypocrisy spewing from the EU makes one sick. Please Ms. Del Ponte your expiration date is way past due.

Jack, thank God that there are persons like Carla Del Ponte in the world who puts on her list justice for innocent victims as her main objective. Don't worry, Serbia wants to move ahead also, and most of the Serbs are waiting that their politics put on their pants and do the job they were elected for.

Carla De Ponte should apply for another job. It appears that her crusade against the Serbs is over. Mrs. De Ponte the world wants to move on and move ahead to the future, your getting in the way of progress.

So, Europe should honor resolution 1244 to guarantee the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Kosovo within Serbia borders.

I agree with Carla del Ponte when she says that values remain “relative concepts, rather than absolute values”, in Serbia. Ten years after the end of the war, all serbian leaders did not come forward with a politic recognizing the atrocities committed by their nation, and did not apologize to the families of the victims. More, most of the war criminals are free and walk freely among their victims.
