"Pro-Darwin" bishop reportedly under fire at SPC Assembly

For God's sake (literally). The SPC is becoming a laughing stock of redneck hicks, where a once liberal and progressive clergy that dominated academic discourse from the late 80s up to the early 2000s gave me hope that the church would not sink to the level of Bible-thumping evangelicism that characterizes the worst aspects of Right Wing Christianity in America. The Faculty of Orthodox Theology were absolutely right in attacking this idiotic petition and reminded me once again of the theological scholariship of years before. The SPC has become contaminated reactionary pseudo-priests ever since Amfilohije started leading from the rear. Pathetic that this type of anti-Darwinian nonsense is actually a "debatable" subject these days.

Since there is the concern of Kosovo radical islamism how about Orthodox Medieval savages?

Is this where we going? Inquisition vs Caliphate? With Logic, Reason, Rationalism and Science being slaughtered by religous hooligans and warmongers?

Since last time I looked the Orthodox were not kiting out their faithful with explosive vests nor were they brainwashing their parishioners with tales of 72 virgins in heaven with double storey houses and Mercedes in the garage. It's your Muslim that do that.

Considering what is taught in the Bible is it any wonder the clergy and theologians align themselves with the story about Adam and Eve and disregard evolution, but if I recall the Americans are worse as they kill doctors working in abortion clinics.

It was not so long ago, during the 1990's, that Serbian bishops and Patriach were blessing your Chetniks and criminals before they went of to murder innocent women and children.

Since there is the concern of Kosovo radical islamism how about Orthodox Medieval savages?

No it wasn't, and this I am taking a stand on. The SPC was openly against Milosevic's policies even though a minority of extremist clerics collaborated with the regime. The church condemned ethnic cleansing, the Patriarch condemned Milosevic, and the theological faculty provided an oasis of free thought from the Turbo-folk infused gangsterism that characterized the Milosevic regime. The ratio of nationalist to dissident priests in the SPC in the 1990s is the inverse of what the rhetoric of the church seems now. I can't speak for the SPC today, but during the 1990s the SPC was officially against Milosevic.You are categorically wrong in your statement and it's been a part of counter-nationalist narratives against Serbia among narrow-minded groups in Croatia, Bosnia, and Kosovo.

If god made monkeys, it is an insult to god to preclude the possibility that he used monkeys to make man.

If god did make man separately, why do we have so much DNA in common? He must have reused some of his earlier ideas. If he reused ideas, why not use some form of physical decent as well - much easier than having to mutter many of the same creative words all over again.

Of course the same logic steps back to before monkeys. God didn't have to bother muttering the words, because nearly all of the stuff needed to make monkeys already existed in the precursors of monkeys.

And so on, working backwards. Working forwards again, we see that god didn't need to bother creating much at all - natural processes were quite able to do the job.

And by this means, god has retired to the level of wish fulfilment for people who were misinformed in their childhoods about the necessity for a creator.

Inquisition was indeed carried out by Catholic Church because in Catholic countries at least they had "dissidents". In Orthodox and Muslim countries it was even worse. The dissidents didn't even exist.

I have been to Serbian Churches during the 1990s and not once did I hear their priests advocate violence against people, on the contrary all I heard was to talk about peace and pray an end to war.

I don’t doubt that Serbian troops were blessed before going into war. Just because the troops were blessed does not mean the SPC asked or ordered these men to kill defenceless women or children unlike ISL fighters or Croatian Ustashi during WW2.
Since 1990, I have always taken with a grain of salt stories reported on western TV about any country or people who oppose the west because the west makes it up as they go along. After evacuation of Bosnian forces from Srebrenica I watched a group that were flown to Adelaide Australia interviewed on TV and the sound was not turned off so I heard what they were saying and the translation, and what they said bore no resemblance to the translated version.
Since I have seen US military chaplains from various denominations bless US troops before going into battle does your theory apply that they went in to kill defenceless women and children?

I guess its now cool for the Serbian Orthodox Christians and the other 270 million followers of Christ to remove all images of the Crucifixion from our churches and replace them with a monkey swinging from a tree?
