DRI chief Radoslav Sretenovic announced that this body will not be filing criminal lawsuits for abuse in dispensing 2008 budget funds. Having audited the final budget calculation for 2008, the State Auditing Institution (DRI) filed 19 misdemeanor complaints, 11 of which were against ministers from the current and previous government. "No criminal charges for budget abuse" "None of these complaints are outdated," Sretenovic told journalists following a meeting of parliament's Financial Committee, whose members supported amendments to the State Auditing Institution Law that would raise auditors' salaries. Sretenovic refused to comment on statements by certain ministers and officials regarding the complaints submitted against them, and stressed that such behavior is a way of pressuring the judiciary. According to him, the State Auditing Institution will begin auditing the 2009 budget in March, when it will also launch its own website for posting information on state finance auditing.
