State Auditor Radoslav Sretenovic said that all of the reports on the financial abuses against state officials are still valid. “The court will make the final decision. I finished my job according to the law and I do not want to talk about my reports anymore. On Monday, we will also give the legislative committee of parliament proposals to change, make additions to and crystallize the procedures for public procurements, the budget system and accounting." DRI chief: Reports still valid "Special attention will be paid to demands for charges being pressed,” Sretenovic, who heads the State Audit Institution (DRI), told Belgrade daily Vecernje Novosti. He filed reports against seven current and four former ministers that all reacted differently to the accusations. “I do not want to have any debates through the newspapers. I worked according to the law, I said what I had to say, it is up to the court to decide,” Sretenovic said. A meeting was scheduled for Monday of the parliamentary financial committee, where changes and additions are expected to be adopted to the law defining the DRI, in order to improve the status of the auditor. The adoption of the act will give Sretenovic a monthly wage of almost RSD 300,000, which includes RSD 230,000, plus money for his apartment and living expenses. “What is most important is that the state auditors will receive wages of RSD 143,000, which is the prerequisite for attracting quality sectors so that we could have better auditing in the future,” Sretenovic said, adding that the audit of last year’s budget will begin in March.
