A meeting has been scheduled for Monday between party whips and Radio Television Serbia (RTS) boss Aleksandar Tijanic. They are expected to discuss the issue of broadcasting parliamentary sessions live on television. Speaker to meet with RTS boss Parliamentary Speaker Slavica Djukic-Dejanovic told journalists that she would meet with Tijanic on Monday morning to discuss the broadcasts, adding that making the parliamentary sessions public was important for democracy. She said that when it came to technical sessions or debates on items on the agenda and on the formation of delegations, a taped broadcast was sufficient. Djukic-Dejanovic added, however, that live broadcasts would be the rule, not the exception. “We will address these issues with the new Code of Procedure, and I think that is the best solution, and until then, we will work by compromise,” she said, adding that she did not expect the sessions to be taken off air during the current parliament.
