Despite coalition disagreements, Bozidar Djelic (DS) says he is ready to sign the SAA with the EU. "I am convinced we will sign this agreement, and that this will be supported by our coalition partners from the government, therefore I have already booked a ticket [to Brussels]," the deputy prime minister from President Boris Tadic's Democratic Party (DS) told reporters in Lebane, southern Serbia, where he was meeting with local farmers. Djelic says he's ready to sign SAA Some reports suggested that the deal, initialed in November last year, could be signed at the end of January. But Prime Minister Vojislav Kostunica and his Democratic Party of Serbia (DSS) oppose the signing of the Stabilization and Association Agreement (SAA) unless the EU drops its idea to send its own mission to Kosovo, replacing UNMIK without a new UN resolution authorizing it. Yesterday, Djelic repeated he "had his pen ready and ticket booked", and when journalists wanted to know whether this would be "a one way ticket", he replied he would "certainly return to Belgrade." In the last week of campaigning ahead of the first round of the presidential election called for January 20, Djelic also expresses his belief Serbia could become an EU candidate by December this year, "but only if Boris Tadic is reelected."
