Serbian and Bosnian police have arrested several persons suspected of smuggling and dealing weapons and explosives. “In the coming days, we will release concrete names and amounts of seized weapons and explosives,” Serbian Police Director Milorad Veljovic said, adding that the prosecutions of the two countries are also participating in the action. Suspected arms dealers arrested Veljovic confirmed for B92 earlier that a coordinated action is ongoing for cutting off a channel used for smuggling a large supply of weapons and explosives into the region. The action is a cooperative effort between the Serbian police and prosecution for organized crime and the institutions of the Bosnian Federation and Republic of Srpska. Veljovic said that the explosives and weapons were meant to be used in serious crimes and acts of terrorism. Police are searching a large number of locations throughout Serbia and Bosnia in order to locate and confiscate more weapons and explosives.
