Interior Minister Ivica Dacic said on Friday in Pozarevac that MUP is collaborating with the OSCE to finalize a strategy on organized crime. The making of the so-called white book, which represents a sum of all operative information on organized crime, is nearly done, he also revealed. Minister: "White book" almost finished An integrated system that will have all the data on organized criminal groups in Serbia is an important step forward, he said. "Serbia has not had this in one place so far. This step forward means that Serbia can at this point define between 30 and 40 groups as organized crime groups dealing in various activities." Dacic said that those groups are involved in illegal trade, narcotics, financial and other types of crime. "That means that whoever has permission to access all that can at any moment have a clear survey by names and nicknames, even by only a few digits of phone numbers, or anything else that had been identified, and find information that is important at that moment." The minister explained that the document will not be used as a list to make arrest warrants – rather, it is a compilation of data on persons who are mentioned in it. "As far as the MUP is concerned the white book has been finalized, but we have agreed to have other state organs submit their data, and then have the Council for National Security debate it. Not debate the contents, but to have it as a joint action of all the state organs," said Dacic. As for a law that will see illegally gained assets and property seized from criminals, the minister said it would be "a huge blow to organized crime", and specified that the legislation would come into effect in the next few weeks. Dacic, the leader of the Socialist Party of Serbia, was in Pozarevac on Friday to attend meetings of the local party boards.
