DSS: Koštunica won't retire from politics

Democratic Party of Serbia (DSS) spokesman Andreja Mladenovic says this party will be "strict and principled opposition." Addressing a news conference in Belgrade on Monday, Mladenovic also said that some ranking DSS officials would join the DSS parliamentary club. Speaking about the possibility that the cabinet will be formed by the coalitions led by the Democrats (DS) and Socialists (SPS), Mladenovic reiterated reservations which the DSS had already voiced towards such an outcome. He said that "Serbia will get a government which will be interesting, to say the least", because "it is difficult to determine the interest that brings them together", and added that it is "evident that the strongest connection between the parties is the satisfaction some foreign ambassadors have voiced regarding the establishment of such a government." Asked if Kostunica made a mistake when he called the May 11 elections, Mladenovic said that the DSS had lost trust in its coalition partners, that it would do the same now, and that "it does not have any regrets regarding the calling of elections."
