A fistfight that turned into a shootout in Cacak last night left three persons injured, including an on-duty police officer. The local MUP in the central Serbian town confirmed the reports this morning, while an investigative judge in charge of the case said the incident took place near a restaurant where one of the victims was celebrating his son's birthday. On-duty policeman hurt in brawl Up to 130 people were present inside the premises when police were called in over a public disturbance report, Judge Bogoljub Paunovic said. "Officers came because someone had reported that music was playing too loud. When they arrived, a minor scuffle broke out with the restaurant's owner, Negoslav Kusic," Paunovic explained. Two policemen involved, Rajko Kuzic and Jaksa Nedovic, told the judge they were assaulted. "Policemen were insulted and attacked in front of the restaurant. Kuzic was hit in the jaw and one of his teeth was knocked out. After this, the shooting took place. Negoslav Kusic and Branimir Djokic were wounded. We found three shell casings, traces of blood and a pair of earrings at the scene," the judge told reporters. Kusic sustained head injuries, while Djokic has wounds to his stomach, Paunovic further explained. "Blood samples and uniforms were taken from the injured policemen. Their weapons were also removed, in order to determine all the details," Paunovic said. Kusic, the restaurant owner, was conscious this morning, but would not make any statement without his attorney present, the judge concluded.
