Communist emblems to stay in palace
After the World War II, officials of the Communist regime used the royal White Palace as their headquarters. The statement says that the palace, which was returned to the state in 2000, represents the history of a failed political experiment in Yugoslavia.
There are various artifacts located in the royal complex today, including pictures, painting and renovations made after World War II.
The palace was built in 1924 and “has for the last seven decades served as a residence of the state which has changed names nine times, had two renovations and two dictators,” according to the statement.
