Alternative Kosovo plan presented

Center for Geo-strategic Research Chairman Slobodan Erić said that the plan would satisfy both Serbian and Kosovo Albanian interests, and suit the international community.

The plan guarantees sovereignty to Serbia, while ethnic Albanians would receive essential autonomy and be vested with executive, legislative and judicial authority.

The international community will thus be given perspective and basis for a long-term stability, the authors said.

Erić stressed that the Albanian entity would enjoy essential autonomy from Belgrade, as the Serb entity would be left with the possibility to implement Serbian legislation.

Serbia would remain in charge of foreign affairs, monetary policy, border control, customs, protection of religious, cultural heritage and human, secured by Serbian Army stationed in garrisons and military police service.

According to the plan, the Albanian entity would be in control of the security managed by police service and special anti-terrorist units, fiscal policy, health care, social protection, education, culture, public information services, public administration, urban planning and sustainable development.

Erić added that the Serbian government ministers, Parliament lawmakers and caucus chiefs would be presented with the plan next week.
