Nearly 19,000 civilians killed in Iraq in less than 2 years
At least 18,802 civilians have been killed in Iraq between January 1, 2014 and October 31, 2015, the United Nations announced on Tuesday.

The report gives details of the killings, committed by Islamic State extremists who shot, beheaded, buried alive their victims, and threw them off buildings.The UN said it is believed that IS currently holds about 3,500 persons as slaves - mostly Yazidi minority women and children.
Islamic State occupied northern and western parts of Iraq in the summer of 2014 which plunged the country into its worst political and security crises since U.S. combat troops withdrew in 2011.
