More Dutch personnel will head for Afghanistan, a year after the government collapsed due to divisions over whether to pull its troops out of that country. The new Dutch government won parliamentary support on Friday to resend a police-military mission to Afghanistan. New Dutch govt. again sends mission to Afghanistan The mission will consist of 545 men and women, including police and military trainers, soldiers and military command specialists, who will travel to Afghanistan to train the country’s police, Reuters reported. The Dutch police-military mission will leave for Afghanistan in May this year. The previous coalition government headed by conservative prime minister Jan Peter Balkenende fell in 2010 over whether to pull troops out of Afghanistan, and within a few months they were brought home, to the Netherlands, the British agency recalled. Reuters also noted that 24 Dutch soldiers have been killed in Afghanistan since 2001. The Netherlands was one of the first NATO countries to send its troops to that country.

The Dutch police-military mission will leave for Afghanistan in May this year.
